Cultivating a Shared Creative Language to Inspire and Connect Artists and Communities Around the World
At a time when many international boundaries are turning into barriers, we believe that the arts and artists share a creative language that can heal and bring people together.
In December of 2016, we traveled to Yangon to meet with artists and began curating the project’s exhibition component. For those of you who may not know, Myanmar, formerly known as Burma, recently opened its borders as it moves toward democracy. As a result of this fundamental change, artists are now free to explore all forms of creative expression. Artists Beyond Boundaries’ inaugural project will take place in Yangon, Myanmar in June 2017. This exhibition will explore how Myanmar artists’ work has evolved over this decade long period of political change.
This curated exhibition will take place at the American Center of the U.S. Embassy and will feature the work of 25 Myanmar artists. Together with the exhibiting artists we will give lectures and studio workshops at Yangon’s popular and accessible Pansodan Scene studios.
